Peskov: No signal in possible cancellation of N Stream 2 sanctions

MOSCOW, May 19 (PRIME) -- Reports on the possible cancellation of the U.S. sanctions against Russia’s Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project are positive, but impersonal, so cannot be perceived as a signal, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

“Now we can see only impersonal publications so they cannot be perceived as a signal. Although the mere fact of appearing of such publications is positive. It is much better than reports about new sanctions,” he said.

On Tuesday, news portal Axios reported that the administration of the U.S. President Joe Biden will waive sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany, and its CEO.
